Francisco Javier Muñoz Moldes

Director General for Economic Policy. Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise.

Born in Pontevedra in 1988, he holds a bachelor’s and master's degree in Economics from the Catholic University of Louvain, a master's degree in Competition and Market Regulation from Pompeu Fabra University and the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and is a Commercial Technician and State Economist by competitive examination. He has pursued a career in the fields of competition, economic regulation and European public policy.

Outside the national public sector, he has worked for the Swedish Competition Authority in Stockholm, the Belgian pharmaceutical group UCB and the UK competition consultancy RBB Economics in its London and Brussels offices.

In the Spanish public sector he has held positions in the Department of Analysis and Studies of the Presidency of the Government, in the Technical and Financial Analysis Cabinet of the Public Treasury and in the Cabinet of the First Vice-President and Minister of Economic Affairs. He has also served as Deputy Director General for European Funds at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, being responsible for the coordination of the main financial instruments of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, as well as representing the Ministry in negotiations with the European Commission.
