María Teresa Samaniego
Head of National Corporate Financing
María Teresa Samaniego holds a degree in Law and Business Administration/Management from ICADE (Pontifical University of Comillas) and has a Master's degree in Banking and Finance from the IEB (Institute of Stock Market Studies) and a Certificate in Financial Advisement (CFA).
Her career was built in the financial sector and she has garnered over 20 years of experience in different areas of corporate finance. Prior to joining ICO, she was Director of Syndicated Financing at Liberbank and Unicaja Banco.
As Head of National Corporate Financing at ICO, she is responsible for identifying and developing direct financing opportunities (loans, credits, club deals, syndicated loans, guarantees, promissory notes, bonds, etc.) for larger companies, maintaining an ongoing dialogue with clients, financial institutions and external advisors, and coordinating the internal team and regional agents. She supervises the comprehensive processing of operations, leads origination and analysis, channels technical interaction with other departments and units, participates in committees and coordinates the formalisation of operations. In addition, she handles the referral of operations to AXIS when customers require capital solutions, give impetus to the digitalisation of the corporate process, and defines and monitors KPIs.
The Domestic Corporate Operations Origination Unit and the Domestic Corporate Operations Pre-Approval Unit report to this Directorate.
